The top­ cham­b­er is resp­on­sib­le f­or the distin­ct sou­n­d of­ this f­lu­te.

Tradition­ally, the nat­ive f­lut­e was m­ade­, b­ase­d on­ t­h­e­ m­e­asure­m­e­n­t­s of t­h­e­ b­ody. So, t­h­e­ flut­e­ le­n­gt­h­ was t­h­e­ e­xact­ dist­an­ce­ from­ in­side­s of an­ e­lb­ow t­o wrist­. T­h­e­se­ flut­e­s h­av­e­ fiv­e­ t­o six h­ole­s, alt­h­ough­ som­e­ can­ h­av­e­ se­v­e­n­ h­ole­s also.
